American Beauty

That spangled banner,
All the glory,
A spirit so palpable,
The zeal is in the soil,
It’s always here.
Trumpets blare.
Props roar to life.
“All clear.”
A new day, a new mission.
Seeing you brings it all back.
My quiet, ever-beating metaphor.
Your lipstick never smears.
And those legs! Oh, my…
Maneuvers in the cockpit,
Tracing your flight path.
No bogey in these skies.
